3 Product Choices


My first product choice would be facial oil. Facial oil is a skincare product and typical has a glass bottle, coloured liquid and a dropper. I think it would be interesting to see what I could do with it since there's textures I could include or I could use the dropper with the bottle or by itself. It gives me a lot of options.

 My next product choice is jewellery. I would find something shiny and reflective, maybe even have a set up of some earrings and a ring or a necklace. It would be interesting to see how different light would reflect differently on crystals, especially AB crystals which change in different light.

My last choice would be makeup. There could be several options with this as most makeup has different textures and would be interesting to work with something like the above pictures. Or I could photograph a palette which is generally metallic and has a mirror. This would then have to be edited for my end result.

Final Photo Attempt 1

For my set up of my final image, this is what I used. In my tests, I used a similar light up but didn't use any natural light. First, I had a laptop at full brightness with a plain, white background. This added a soft light to brighten the surroundings. On top of that was a phone's flashlight, pointed at the subject. The flashlight was helpful as it made the crystals sparkle a lot more than any other light. I used a mirror to create a soft key light with the use of the natural light. I concentrated it right on the subject. The subject was placed on an A3 white page. This was placed on a shelf that was held up by a small box. I had tried it lower but the images came out darker as the window was higher up and perpendicular to the set up. I liked these images and they were what I'd envisioned when looking at the simpler images Pandora created. Research

Research Looking at previous adverts and jewellery photographs taken for Pandora, they have a particular approach. It's generally soft and vibrant. It also often evokes an emotion or tells a story. They also have detail shots that are purely to show off the jewellery. (stellarmagazine.com) (pandora.net) (pandora.net) Pandora often also have soft coloured backgrounds. I'd be interested to possibly edit on in after the photo is taken as I don't have anything I could use.  Their actual advertisements often tend to have a story or emotion as part of them, as I said above. This is something else I'll have to take in to consideration as I come to the editing part.
