Lab 01


I like this image because you can really see the light on the right hand side of the subject's face but it fades as we reach the left of the face. I think it's a really nice effect. We used the silver side to reflect more light on to the subject's face.


I like the way that this was taken in the same spot as the image above but using the tool to block light gave it a completely softer look with more shadowing around the face. 


I think this image is cool because of the way that you can actually see where the light is coming from and it's lighting up the entire left side and we weren't using any lighting tools to create something so bright.


This photo stands out to me because of the contrasting colours. The pop of pink amongst the pale white and dark black is really nice but it also follows the shadow. The light is on the left, as is the white wall. The shadows are darker on the right as is the background.

Final Photo Attempt 1

For my set up of my final image, this is what I used. In my tests, I used a similar light up but didn't use any natural light. First, I had a laptop at full brightness with a plain, white background. This added a soft light to brighten the surroundings. On top of that was a phone's flashlight, pointed at the subject. The flashlight was helpful as it made the crystals sparkle a lot more than any other light. I used a mirror to create a soft key light with the use of the natural light. I concentrated it right on the subject. The subject was placed on an A3 white page. This was placed on a shelf that was held up by a small box. I had tried it lower but the images came out darker as the window was higher up and perpendicular to the set up. I liked these images and they were what I'd envisioned when looking at the simpler images Pandora created. Research

Research Looking at previous adverts and jewellery photographs taken for Pandora, they have a particular approach. It's generally soft and vibrant. It also often evokes an emotion or tells a story. They also have detail shots that are purely to show off the jewellery. (stellarmagazine.com) (pandora.net) (pandora.net) Pandora often also have soft coloured backgrounds. I'd be interested to possibly edit on in after the photo is taken as I don't have anything I could use.  Their actual advertisements often tend to have a story or emotion as part of them, as I said above. This is something else I'll have to take in to consideration as I come to the editing part.
