Product Shot Assessment Proposal
1. Who is the client, or company you are representing?
It will be a jewellery company named Pandora. I like their style of photography and how they portray or story or some sort of emotion through their images used for advertising. It’s often playful and youthful and I’d like to try and challenge myself to come up with a way to do this in my own photography.
They sell all kinds of jewellery but often have collaborations or seasonal images.
2. What is the product?
Gold crystal hoop earrings.
3. Who is the target audience?
The main target audience would be women but this extends to most people as jewellery is a big gifting item. It could be bought for women or by women but could also be worn by women or men.
4. Where would you expect to see this advertisement?
Pandora has advertisements in several mediums and places. They have a catalogue in store as well as posters in their front window. They also have advertisements online on their website and as advertisements on the side of other website that support outside advertisements.
5. What kind of lighting are you going to use to make this look professional?
I'll be using a mirror and natural light to create a key light, a flashlight on a phone to create my main light and natural light will also be present.
6. What props do you need?
I'll be using a white A3 sheet of paper to create a white background. I'll then need props to hold up my product. I'll be using a mirror for help with my lighting.
Research
Looking at previous adverts and jewellery photographs taken for Pandora, they have a particular approach. It's generally soft and vibrant. It also often evokes an emotion or tells a story. They also have detail shots that are purely to show off the jewellery.

Pandora often also have soft coloured backgrounds. I'd be interested to possibly edit on in after the photo is taken as I don't have anything I could use.
Their actual advertisements often tend to have a story or emotion as part of them, as I said above. This is something else I'll have to take in to consideration as I come to the editing part.

For example, this collaboration with Disney has small drawings of stars and hearts which give it a playful, young and magical feeling - words that sum Disney up completely.
